Three new developments are in the works for Lift 1A at the base of Aspen Mountain:
THE SKI CO PARCELS: On Friday, June 5, 2015, co-applicants Roch Partners and Aspen Ski Company met with the city of Aspen planning officials for a pre-application conference for the development of a 27,000 sf parcel as a lodge, welcome center, and a connection both up the ski mountain and down to pedestrian traffic in town. This parcel is currently home to the Lift 1A terminal and an adjacent parking lot. Redevelopment of this parcel includes a new high-speed ski lift and a solution to the ongoing threats of the International Skiing Federation (FIS) to stop coming to Aspen for the World Cup unless the Lift 1A area is developed and upgraded. LIFT ONE LODGE: In May 2015 this parcel just south of the Ski Co parcel was sold for $22M to an entity operated by Michael and Aaron Brown, two local hotel owners who currently own and operate Hotel Aspen and the Molly Gibson on Main Street. Considering the recent voter passage of Referendum 1, it is likely that the Brown brothers will move forward with this Lift 1A development under the existing approvals from 2011 as a timeshare hotel.
ONE ASPEN: This 14-luxury townhome Lift 1A development in the core of Aspen is fully approved and permitted and expected to break ground any day. These mountainside units are offered at $8.5M-$16.2M and range from 4,933sf-5,570sf. This is a great opportunity to own brand new ski-in/ski-out real estate in downtown Aspen.
